During the HIRES program, students learn about the fields of science – particularly engineering, as potential careers. Further, they engage in field trips, professional development activities, Irondale workshops to learn effective communication, etc. Since students are part of a college setting and interact with faculty, mentors, and peers, many of them are able to envision themselves pursuing their college dreams. Each HIRES students receives a $1,000 stipend and three college credits at the conclusion of the program.
