CREST hosted a seminar on Nature Water- New Journal in the Nature Portfolio at the City College of New York on January 30, 2025. Dr. Karin Sjöstrand, Senior Editor of Nature Water served as the speaker. The seminar was well attended by CCNY, CESSRST II, and CREST students, professionals, faculty, and management.

Nature Water, which launched in 2023, covers all elements of research related to the relationship between society and water resources. During the seminar, Dr. Sjöstrand, a member of the editorial team from the journal’s inception, discussed the lead-up to and launch of Nature Water, how it fit within the wider Nature family, and the editing and publishing processes at Springer Nature. She elaborated that Nature Water focuses on the natural sciences (primarily Earth and environmental science), engineering (including environmental, civil, chemical, and materials engineering), and social sciences (economy, human geography, and sociology, among other disciplines), with a special emphasis on interdisciplinary research. The purpose of the journal is to publish research that aligns with the journal’s missions  and help advance fundamental understanding and have an impact on practical technology applications and policy implementation possibilities.

Attendees were engaged throughout the talk and asked curiosity driven questions.
