Prof. Jorge Gonzalez recently appointed as New member of Biological and Environmental Research Advisory Board, DOE

Prof. Jorge Gonzalez was just appointed to serve as a member of the Biological and Environmental Research Advisory Committee in the U.S. Department of Energy (BERAC) for a term ending on December 16, 2024. The Committee provides advice and recommendations on scientific, technical, and programmatic issues relating to biological and environmental research in DOE. The Committee reports directly to the Director, Office of Science and is expected to meet approximately three times a year in the Washington, DC, area. In this capacity, he will be asked to provide advice to the Department on its Biological and Environmental Research program and in the fields of atmospheric science, systems modeling, and environmental science.

Dr. Gonzalez, is Presidential Professor  of CCNY and Director of The Coastal Urban Environmental Research Group (CUERG) at the CUNY-CREST Institute. He conducts climate research studies on complex coastal urban areas including but not limited to; the states of California, New York, the islands of Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic. His research includes observational and modeling studies of coastal physical phenomenon and their practical impacts on climate modification. He uses the Regional Atmospheric Modeling System (RAMS) developed by scientists from Colorado State University and the Weather Research and Forecasting model (WRF) developed by National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) as main modeling tools.
