Dr. Naresh Devineni received $600,000 in funding for the HyperFACETS storyline- Urban Flooding in the Northeast Corridor
Dr. Naresh Devineni is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the City University of New York’s City College. Dr. Devineni has recently received a nearly $600,000 grant as a sub-award from the U.S. Department of Energy as part of the consortium led by UC Davis. Titled, HyperFACETS v3- A Framework for Improving Analysis and Modeling of Earth System and Intersectional Dynamics at Regional Scales, the project aims to support efforts that advance the understanding of processes at the climate-water-energy-land-decision interface and fundamentally improve the ability to perform credible climate modeling of particular regions. Various storylines are created in several universities and DoE Labs throughout the country in the HyperFACETS consortium.
Dr. Devineni will lead a storyline titled, Urban Flooding in the Northeast Corridor. Other researchers in this storyline include faculty from Stony Brook University and scientists from the Pacific Northwest National Labs (PNNL) and the National Center of Atmospheric Research (NCAR), with diverse expertise in climate modeling, extremes analysis, urban hydrology, and urban planning. Dr. Devineni and other researchers also plan to work closely with local and regional planners to create decision-support tools for stakeholder needs. The HYPERFACETS v3 phase is a three-year project and CCNY will receive approximately $600,000 over the three years for this effort.
