CUNY CREST participated and co-sponsored the first annual NOAA Center for Earth System Sciences and Remote Sensing Technologies II (CESSRST II) Symposium held at CCNY, NY from July 31 to August 2, 2023.
The symposium provided a forum for students, faculty, and the community to discuss cutting edge remote sensing research topics and to examine the connection between research and education. Attendees gained the opportunity to participate in poster and presentation sessions, oral presentations and network. A detailed agenda can be found here.
On the third day of the event, Dr. Shakila Merchant delivered a workshop on Branding and Developing Professional Self-identity as part of the ‘Professional Development Workshops’ segment of the symposium. During her workshop, Dr. Merchant elaborated on the best practices for personal and professional branding. She also discussed how to develop a personal brand strategy. Further, Dr. Merchant talked about the concept of emotional intelligence and conducted exercises on the same with the participants. She concluded the workshop by providing recommendations for books to read to educate oneself on emotional intelligence.
The workshop was engaging and appreciated by the participants. Dr. Merchant said, “It was gratifying to see students deeply engaged and interacted throughout the session..”
