Representing CREST were leadership members Dr. Reza Khanbilvardi and Dr. Shakila Merchant, CREST Research Scientist and NOAA CESSRST II Distinguished Research Scientist Dr. Mitch Goldberg, CREST Faculty Affiliate and Professor of Civil Engineering at CCNY Dr. Naresh Devineni, CREST Faculty Affiliate Kyle C. McDonald, CREST Stakeholder Engagement and Community Outreach Pillar Associate Director Dr. Hamidreza Norouzi, and CREST doctoral students Ms. Ali Haider (Civil Engineering), Ms. Shima Kamali (Water Resources Engineering), Mr. Ana M. Mejia Manrique (Civil Engineering), Ms. Niloufar Soheili (Civil Engineering), and Ms. Fatemeh Yavari (Civil Engineering).<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The AGU Annual Meeting is the premier Earth and space science conference, bringing together scientists, educators, and policymakers from around the world. This year\u2019s event featured beneficial workshops, panel discussions, cutting-edge research presentations in Earth and space sciences, exhibitions, oral and poster presentations, and opportunities for career advancement and funding. The 2025 theme was <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Where Science Connects Us.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Learn more about AGU <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.agu.org\/annual-meeting\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">here.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For CREST doctoral students, the event was an invaluable opportunity to present their research, network with experts in fields such as urban flooding, flash flood trends, and climate resilience etc, exchange ideas, and draw inspiration from fellow presenters. They also gained access to a wealth of resources, including company booths at the exhibition, potentially paving the way for future collaborations. Several CREST and NOAA CESSRST II students presented at the AGU. Dr, Merchant also gave an oral presentation on <\/span><b>Exploring Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) through Gender and Water Ecosystems among the Mi&#8217;kmaq Tribal Nation in Maine, USA<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. along with co-authors &#8211; Dr. Smita Ekka Dewan, Dr. Vartika Saman and Mik\u2019maq tribal Chief Ms. Sheila McCormack and Mik\u2019maq Tribal Planner Dr. Dena Winslow. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">CREST congratulates all its members for their dedication, learning, and meaningful contributions to both their professional development and the broader AGU community.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From December 15 to 19, 2025, CREST participated in the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Annual Meeting held in New Orleans, Louisiana.
