SUMMARY:How Things Work Conference
DESCRIPTION:CUNY CREST and CUNY HIRES in partnership with NYC Environmental Educators Advisory Council  (EEAC)\, NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and James Baldwin Outdoor Learning Center will be co-hosting the upcoming “How Things Work” Eco-Literacy Conference on March 5\, 2024 in the Great Hall at CCNY. \nThe exhibitions will be open to college students\, and professionals at 1:15 PM. Register using this sign-up sheet. \nBelow is some more event information (goals and agenda): \n\nNYC students in middle school and high school and undergrad and graduate students and educators are invited to attend and learn about how environmental systems work from exhibits\, guest speakers\, and activities.\nExhibitors will help attendees build on their eco-literacy\, consider how essential systems work and how students and educators might play a role to feel empowered and take action in addressing environmental stewardship and climate resiliency.\nAmong the exhibitors will be NYC Parks (Sustainable Facilities)\, Urban Assembly School for Green Careers\, Sanitation Foundation\, Empire Clean Cities\, The Bronx is Blooming\, Sims Municipal Recycling (Balcones Recycling)\, Lower East Side Ecology Center\, North Brooklyn Parks Alliance\, New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene\, NYC Department of Environmental Protection\, Christodora\, Billion Oyster Project\, WhyMaker\, Solar One\, New York League of Conservation Voters Education Fund (NYLCVEF) and Climate and Resilience Education Task Force (CREFT).\nThe conference is coordinated by the Environmental Education Projects Forum (the Forum) of the Environmental Education Advisory Council (EEAC) of New York City. EEAC cultivates an inclusive community committed to increasing its capacity to understand and address NYC’s environmental and related societal challenges. EEAC members work together to stimulate and encourage environmental education (EE) in the city and surrounding region.\nThe Forum is a network of environmental educators across NYC and related professionals working to create and implement projects that establish environmental/sustainability education in schools and non-formal settings.\n\n
